This Autumn 2024, the BRiDGE Project Learning Community is exploring  the topic of "Building bridges between research, policy and practice in the citizenship education landscape". Participants from policy, research and civil society are invited to join seminars scheduled for 11 and 29 October, and the peer learning activity (PLA) on 5 December 2024. Scroll down for more information and for a link to the invitation and registration form.

The BRiDGE project is hosting an online collaborative design workshop (peer learning activity) for experts working on (Global) Citizenship Education - "Collaborating to tackle the complex challenges of (Global)Citizenship Education" on December 5, 2024. This follows the two online seminars that bring together researchers, policy officers, and representatives of different civil society organisations to discuss key issues around this topic.

To register for the PLA, please fill in the online form here: https://forms.gle/txRSz9TVUfjY922Z6

The two online seminars are co-organised by the Lifelong Learning Platform, Belgium, and the University of Education Freiburg (Pädagogische Hochschule Freiburg), Germany, with the support of the European Institute of Education and Social Policy (France). This is an opportunity for partcipants to interact with panellists that have expertise on (global) citizenship education from different backgrounds. Participants are learning from each other by engaging in group discussions to share expertise and develop their competences together.

The dates and topics of the seminar/PLA series are:

Background

Working at the intersection of research, policy and civil society sectors can be challenging. and addressing this is at the heart of the BRiDGE project. While the importance of connecting stakeholders and their actions is frequently claimed as a key success factor for policy implementation, this is not always being observed in practice. The BRiDGE seminar/PLA series is an in-depth exploration of issues related to global citizenship education, taking into account knowledge and practice in different professional communities, based on an 'ecosystem' perspective.

In other words – the aim is to  build bridges across sectors on issues related to global citizenship education. This can help facilitate knowledge sharing, as well as more effective and sustainable design and implementation of policies.

The first of these seminar series took place in March and April 2024 on the topic of Internationalisation of students and staff: potential and challenges towards achieving the European Education Area.

A working paper, co-produced with the BRiDGE Project team and participant is in the seminar/PLA series, will be made available on our website soon!
